The Shelby Township Police Department's vigilance paid off when a pilot program led to the swift arrests of three adults and a teenager, following an attempted use of counterfeit currency at an Ulta Beauty store, as detailed in a case reported by WWJ Newsradio and other local sources.
On July 30, the culprits were swiftly apprehended when a woman, later identified as Keijoya Greenaway, allegedly tried to pay with a fake $100 bill at the cosmetics retailer on Hall Road. She fled after her ruse was exposed and staff members at Ulta Beauty confronted her about the bill. Despite her quick departure into the parking lot, the Directed Patrol Unit stopped the vehicle before it could exit the lot. Further investigation of the suspect's car revealed two handguns, one reported stolen from North Carolina, approximately $2,500 in counterfeit bills, and goods acquired under pretenses, according to Click On Detroit.
