Three suspects are now behind bars, facing capital murder charges after a deadly robbery at a Dallas smoke shop in July, which left Estevan Narvaez Jr., a father and husband, dead on his first day of work and another man injured. This case was put in the spotlight by FOX 4’s Trackdown segment, leading to their arrest, as reported by FOX 4 News.
Derrick Griffin, Eddie Coleman, and Vincent Casteel have each been taken into custody by U.S. Marshals, Griffin was apprehended last Wednesday, and the older suspects Coleman and Casteel earlier in August following the incident, which occurred at an establishment off Ledbetter Drive in East Oak Cliff, a place the police specified as an illegal gambling site; through witness testimony and in-store video footage, authorities linked the three to the crimes, according to MSN.
"Our victims, Estevan Narvaez and Mark Araguz, were inside this location, and two African American young men came to the location and attempted to rob my two victims. A brief scuffle ensued. Weapons were produced, and shots were fired," Dallas Police Homicide Det. Laurent Swanson said, as per FOX 4 News, highlighting the tragic and casual manner in which the suspects allegedly took property and then walked away from the scene; the callousness of the act heightened by the fact Narvaez would never make it back home.
After police called for the community's help and released surveillance footage showing individuals at the scene of the crime efforts by the authorities and the public led to the arrests with bails for Griffin and Casteel set at $2 million each and Coleman's at $2.5 million this man whose online records reveal several probation violations on robbery charges, remained in jail on Friday morning, confirming the gravity of the situation and the justice system's intent to hold those responsible to account, as cited by MSN.
