A fatal collision occurring early yesterday morning on Dupont Parkway in Middletown, Delaware, claimed the lives of two individuals. The Delaware State Police are currently investigating the two-vehicle crash, as reported by Delaware State Police.
In a tragic turn of events, approaching the intersection with Harris Road, a blue 2022 Honda Civic, which was traveling southbound, was struck head-on by a black 2015 Jeep Wrangler traveling in the wrong direction. The Jeep was northbound in the southbound lanes, leading to the collision that occurred north of Harris Road at approximately 12:30 a.m. on August 18. The Delaware State Police have reported that both occupants of the Honda, a 62-year-old man, and a 51-year-old woman from Smyrna, Delaware, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The identities of the deceased are currently withheld, pending notification of their families. The driver of the Jeep, a 28-year-old woman from Massey, Maryland, sustained critical injuries and was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.
Following the crash, the roadway was closed for an estimated 4 hours while police units investigated and cleared the scene.
