In an unfolding story around the tragic overdose death of inmate William Wilson at Lakeland Correctional Facility, Michigan State Police (MSP) have apprehended two additional individuals believed to be connected to the smuggling operation that led to Wilson's death. According to FOX17, these arrests come after an ongoing investigation following the incident which occurred on October 29, 2023.

The MSP has confirmed that 30-year-old Evellis McGee, an inmate at the same facility, was arrested on July 30, and Aaliyah Monet Lent, 24, from Saginaw, was detained in Detroit by the MSP Fugitive Team. According to WOODTV, they both are purported to have played roles in trying to smuggle contraband into the facility, a plot that culminated in the untimely passing of Wilson due to a methamphetamine overdose.

Earlier in March, Dezaray Brown-Bobo, of Detroit, was taken into custody after security footage revealed her act of smuggling a small object to Wilson during a visit, an object which he was observed swallowing. The autopsy revealed that meth-filled balloons were found inside Wilson's system – both broken and unbroken – that led to his fatal overdose as he attempted to regurgitate them, as reported by MLive.

All three individuals charged in connection with the smuggling and subsequent overdose are currently awaiting court dates.
