A Warren woman faces serious charges after an alleged arson incident that endangered the lives of five people, including two children. London Elizabeth Johnson, 27, is accused of intentionally setting a blaze in the Warren home she shared with the victims. According to reports by WWJ Newsradio, Johnson not only set the fire last Thursday but is also alleged to have blocked both exits to the home.
As per the Macomb County, Michigan, during her arraignment in the 37th District Court, a judge set the bond at $1 million cash/surety only and ordered her to, if released, wear a steel cuff tether. In an alleged attempt to fully grasp the underlying factors of the incident, Johnson has been referred for a community corrections mental health screening. The next step in this legal battle is a Probable Cause Hearing, scheduled for August 13 at 8:45 am.
"By allegedly setting fire to the home, the defendant not only endangered the lives of the five occupants but also put the entire community at risk", Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said, as per WWJ Newsradio. Johnson was charged with five counts of attempted murder, which carries a life felony sentence, and one count of second-degree arson, associated with a 20-year felony charge, as outlined by both media reports and official statements from the prosecutor's office.
