
A violent carjacking in Spanaway resulted in a woman being shot multiple times on Sunday afternoon, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department. The incident, which took place at 17700 25th Ave E, saw the victim and her friend assaulted during what was supposed to be a marijuana sale transaction.
Deputies, after receiving calls about the shooting at 5:14 pm. They arrived swiftly to find one woman injured and provided immediate first aid; the other was encountered in a state of shock after the suspect's aggressive takeover of the vehicle. The altercation escalated when the suspect pistol-whipped the driver, forced her out of the car, and proceeded to shoot the backseat passenger twice. After the suspect commandeered the car, reports indicate that the driver fired several shots at him as he fled the scene, the Sheriff's Department statement detailed.
The injured woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries while the suspect remains at large driving the stolen vehicle. Local detectives have taken over the investigation, searching for leads and asking for the public's assistance in capturing the perpetrator.
