
A York County woman, Marie McGahan, has been sentenced after pleading guilty to the fatal accident that took the life of a Northeastern High School student in October of last year. McGahan will serve 11-and-a-half to 23 months in prison, as reported by WGAL. The incident, which occurred as the student, Arianna Landis, was boarding a school bus, shook the local community.
Along with her prison sentence, McGahan is ordered to pay over $94,000 in restitution to the estate of the deceased, and she must also complete 250 hours of community service; WGAL highlighted that 150 of these hours are to be dedicated to vehicle safety, this sentencing structure is profoundly reflective of the tragic incident's relation to vehicular negligence, she will furthermore be subjected to a year of probation after her release. According to FOX43, McGahan is required to surrender herself to York County Prison on September 30.
Local 21 News reports that when police arrived at the scene on York Haven Road, Landis was found unconscious but still had a pulse. Unfortunately, on November 10, 2022, the 16-year-old died from the injuries she sustained in the crash.
