Yucca Valley Man Charged with Felony Evading and Kidnapping Following High-Speed Police ChaseSource: Morongo Basin Sheriff's Station

A high-speed chase in Yucca Valley culminated in the arrest of a local man who led police on a dangerous pursuit and held a female passenger against her will. On the night of August 5th, deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff's Station signaled a pickup truck to stop due to violations of the California Vehicle Code. The driver, identified as 33-year-old Sean Richard Sirr of Yucca Valley, instead accelerated, instigating a chase that spanned over 6 miles. As reported by the Sheriff-Coroner's department, "Sirr committed several other  violations," whilst trying to escape.

According to the official press release, the pursuit came to a halt when Sirr lost control and the vehicle collided with a fence at the intersection of Linda Lee Drive and Oleander Drive. Despite attempts to hide inside a nearby residence, Sheriff's Aviation and a K9 unit located and arrested Sirr without further altercations.

Sirr was not only evading deputies but also had a prior outstanding felony-no bail warrant for his arrest. Among the charges he now faces are California Vehicle Code 2800.2 - Felony Evading and Penal Code 207 - Kidnapping, detailed in the sheriff's report.

Residents with information pertaining to this incident are encouraged to reach out to Deputy C. Ranslem at the Morongo Basin Station, or anonymously through the We-Tip Hotline. The Sheriff's Department stresses the importance of community cooperation in ensuring the safety of the state's people. Sean Richard Sirr is currently being held, pending further legal procedures.
