
An 84-year-old man was fatally injured in a hit-and-run incident early Monday morning in Anaheim, authorities report. The Anaheim Police Department confirmed that the elderly pedestrian was struck by a vehicle around 5:30 a.m. near the intersection of Anaheim Boulevard and Cerritos Avenue. When police and paramedics arrived, they discovered the man suffering from "severe traumatic injury" and pronounced him dead at the scene, KTLA reports.
The identity of the man has not been released, as officials are waiting to notify his next of kin. The description of the suspect vehicle has been withheld from public release by the police due to the ongoing investigation. According to a statement by the Anaheim Police Department, the collision led to the closure of Anaheim Boulevard in both directions between Cerritos Avenue and the I-5 freeway for several hours to allow for an in-depth investigation of the tragic event.
While the suspect remains at large, the Anaheim Police Department is actively seeking information related to the hit-and-run. "Due to the ongoing investigation, the suspect vehicle description will not be released at this time," the APD mentioned in their statement.
