Tragedy struck Adelanto this Thursday when Alexander Torres, 38, was arrested for two brutal assaults in separate incidents. The SBSD Victor Valley Sheriff's Department reported that officers were called to Thomas Court at 9:29 am, where Torres allegedly assaulted his father.
Violence unfolded with a twist of irony, in a household seemingly deemed to be safe for its elders. In the aftermath, deputies wrestled with Torres, who resorted to combativeness that only further complicated his list of charges, which now include elder abuse and obstructing a peace officer. The assailant was eventually detained, but not before his ire had already been cast upon an unsuspecting woman at the local liquor store.
The Sheriff's Department's announcement revealed the second attack involved a previously unknown female, who met Torres at Dunes Liquor. The encounter, marred by disagreement, escalated rapidly when Torres stabbed her with a screwdriver. Fortunately, the victim received prompt medical attention following the assault.
Currently housed at the High Desert Detention Center, Torres faces charges including the grisly attack with a deadly weapon.
