
Residents of a Whittier neighborhood experienced some tension on Sunday when homes were evacuated due to an armed suspect barricading themselves within the area. According to CBS Los Angeles, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the situation that began around 5:15 p.m. in the 5800 block of Juarez Avenue. The reason behind the initial confrontation leading to the standoff remains unclear, with details still developing.
Following the procedure, the department's Special Enforcement Bureau and the Crisis Negotiation Team were summoned for assistance, as indicated by the Nixle alert by the Sheriff's Information Bureau. Assembled to resolve the situation peacefully, these specialized units had their work cut out for them, dealing with an individual who was reportedly armed.
The Sheriff's Department reported at approximately 10:15 p.m. that the suspect was detained without further incidents.
