The Aurora Police Department has confirmed the arrest of a member of the Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang, Roiberth Daniel Mora-Marquez, on multiple outstanding warrants with charges ranging from aggravated assault to illegal firearm discharge, as reported by the City of Aurora. The 23-year-old was taken into custody by the Gang Intervention Unit this past Wednesday night, with two separate sets of charges awaiting him in Adams and Arapahoe district courts.
Mora-Marquez's legal troubles include a first-degree aggravated assault and second-degree kidnapping case from an April incident over unpaid rent at a residence on Lima Street, he initially posted a $20,000 bond for these charges but failed to keep up with his court appearances, resulting in the issuing of an arrest warrant, Aurora police also apprehend him on a separate warrant in connection with a June shooting that did not result in fatalities but brought charges of felony menacing and reckless endangerment among others upon Mora-Marquez.
These developments follow the Aurora Police Department's recent efforts to spotlight ten TdA gang members operating within their jurisdiction, in a move to enhance public awareness and aid in law enforcement actions. As part of this initiative, the department published details earlier this month about these individuals, including Mora-Marquez, directly addressing the community's safety concerns and the gang's suspected criminal activities.
Currently, Mora-Marquez is being held without bond at the Aurora Detention Center, with ongoing investigations by local authorities who are still piecing together the full scope of his alleged criminal conduct, specifically regarding gang-related activities and the broader impact on community safety. In continuation of these efforts, the department encourages anyone with relevant information to come forward and contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867), reminding the public that tipsters can remain anonymous and might be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000 if their information leads to further prosecutions or the apprehension of accomplices.
