The Aurora Police Department has announced the arrest of three additional individuals linked to a July 28 shooting that injured two men, as well as a man with a broken ankle near E. 16th Avenue and Nome Street in Aurora. The suspects are believed to have ties to the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TdA), which has been a focal point of investigation following the violent incident. According to Denver7, the arrests include those of 22-year-old Jhonardy Jose Pacheco-Chirinos, known to be a documented member of TdA.
Further details provided by the Aurora Police Department highlight the arrest of Jhonnarty Dejesus Pacheco-Chirinos, 24, for attempted murder, making it apparent that law enforcement's grip is tightening on the gang's presence in the area. "We can now confirm that he is a documented member of Tren de Aragua (TdA)," the Aurora Police Department said, as per KKTV. Jhonnarty, alongside his sibling Jhonardy, is currently in ICE custody.
The connections between the suspects and TdA do not end with the Pacheco-Chirinos brothers. Two additional arrests include Dixon Azuaje-Perez, 20, and Nixon Azuaje-Perez, 19. They are suspected of tampering with evidence related to the July 28 shooting and are suspected members of TdA. "These two have gang ties and are suspected to be members of TdA," the department said, as obtained by KKTV.
The scope of TdA's activities in Aurora, as elucidated by law enforcement officials, indicates that the Pacheco-Chirinos brothers are among 10 confirmed TdA members in the Aurora area, with six in custody. The identity of the two additional suspects arrested for tampering with evidence was not included in this count of documented gang members, as noted by FOX31. The July shooting occurred around 4:30 a.m. and escalated concerns in the community over the gang's influence and presence.
