The recent assault and robbery of a 66-year-old man in Baltimore's Butcher's Hill neighborhood has propelled the community and city officials into a state of outrage. The attack, which was captured on a surveillance camera, showed one of the suspects delivering a kick to the head of the already incapacitated victim.

Baltimore police quickly apprehended two individuals, a 15-year-old and an 18-year-old named Montaz Bailey, shortly after the incident occurred, according to FOX Baltimore. The quick release of the 15-year-old attacker back to his guardian after a brief stay at the juvenile detention center has heightened frustrations with the Department of Juvenile Services (DJS).

Baltimore City Councilman Zeke Cohen echoed the community's frustration in a statement where he decries the DJS's actions or lack thereof. “It is unacceptable that they let that child out, so quickly. My message to the secretary and the entire operation within the department of juvenile services is, you have got to get it together," Cohen expressed, as per The Baltimore Sun report. In contrast, Bailey, the 18-year-old involved in the recent assault is facing attempted murder charges and has a prior arrest for vehicle theft in Baltimore County.
