A carjacking incident in Southwest Philadelphia escalated into a dramatic police chase, concluding with a crash in front of a West Philadelphia home early Tuesday morning. According to FOX29, the pursuit was initiated after a carjacking occurred and was followed by the suspect's vehicle ending up on the 400 block of Horton Street. Notably, this ordeal concluded without any reported injuries, and at least one person has been taken into custody while an investigation is underway.

The series of events began before dawn, as NBC Philadelphia reports, with three armed men carjacking a driver around 5:15 a.m. Subsequently, a police officer spotted a car matching the description of the stolen vehicle and commenced to pursue it aggressively. The chase endured for several miles before culminating in a crash that wedged the stolen car between another vehicle and the porch of an unoccupied home on Horton Street.

Meanwhile, the carjacking victim, identified as Jusu Duray, recounted the harrowing experience during which the theft of his car at gunpoint took place. "They said 'Don't turn the car off. Do not turn the car off.' So I got out and they pulled away with my car" Duray said, per 6 ABC. After the assailants fled with his vehicle, Duray sought help using a neighbor's phone, which led to the subsequent pursuit by the police.

The aftermath of the chase saw the suspects bail out of the damaged vehicle and attempt to escape on foot through an alley. Despite using K-9 units to aid in the search, the thieves remain at large.
