Carson Clough, a Charlotte entrepreneur and co-founder of a local coffee shop, won a silver medal in the men's PTS4 para-triathlon event. He achieved this just five years after losing his leg in a boating accident, as WSOCTV reported.
Clough finished with a time of 1:00:47, just 2 minutes and 46 seconds behind gold medalist Alexis Hanquinquant and slightly ahead of the bronze medalist, according to WECT. The PTS4 classification is for athletes with moderate impairments who use approved prosthetics for cycling and running. Clough’s performance highlights both technological advancements and his skill.
Channel 9 covered Clough's training earlier this year, showcasing his hard work and determination since his 2019 injury. His journey from that accident to the Paris Paralympics has earned him a podium finish. In a statement to WSOCTV, Clough highlighted his commitment to not just overcome his challenges but excel in his sport.
The Charlotte native and Charlotte Latin alumnus has made a significant mark in the international para-athletic community. His silver medal in Paris highlights his journey of personal triumph and pursuit of excellence. His final time was just seconds behind Spain's Nil Riudavets, who won bronze, according to WCNC.
