Last Saturday evening, a young child was struck by a vehicle in a situation that could easily have spelled tragedy. The California Highway Patrol's Santa Rosa division responded to distressing calls at about 6:54 PM, when a vehicle on Green Valley Road unexpectedly careened towards a mother and her children, striking a 7-year-old girl.

The child, who has not been named, was walking with her mother on the shoulder of the road when a white vehicle veered off its path and collided with her. The child suffered only minor injuries. The vehicle, however, did not stop. Instead, it continued northbound.

Further investigation into the incident has yielded a critical clue. A right side mirror, detached upon impact, was recovered at the scene. After diligent follow-up, this mirror has been identified as likely belonging to a pearl white Toyota Prius, manufactured between 2010 and 2017, based on the specifics of the model shared by the CHP.

Anyone with information that could lead to the resolution of this case is urged to come forward. The California Highway Patrol's Santa Rosa office can be reached at 707-806-5600.
