A California Highway Patrol officer sustained minor injuries following a hit-and-run collision on the 91 Freeway in Anaheim, as reported by multiple sources. At approximately 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, while executing a traffic stop on the roadway's right shoulder near Euclid Street, the officer's parked SUV was rear-ended by what was described as a 2005 Nissan pickup truck, with the driver immediately fleeing the scene.
Despite the circumstances of a swift escape and the ensuing chaos, law enforcement officials located the abandoned black Nissan under the Euclid Street overpass, however, the driver remains at large; the authorities disseminated a description of the individual, described as an adult Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall wearing a white shirt and blue shorts in hopes the public can aid in their search, ABC7 reported.
"The officer was injured in the crash and transported to a local hospital," Officer Graham confirmed to KTLA, although details on the extent of the officer's injuries were not specified, providentially, they were reported as minor by other outlets. The suspect's vehicle appeared to be disabled before it was discovered deserted not far from the point of impact, hinting at possible damage from the collision that may have contributed to the driver's decision to abscond on foot.
The CHP is urging anyone with information regarding the incident or the whereabouts of the suspect to make contact with their Westminster office at 714-622-3600, as the search continues, this information was reiterated in a statement obtained by CBS Los Angeles. As the officer recovers from what has fortunately been determined to be minor injuries, the law enforcement community and the public alike hold vigilance in the pursuit of justice for this egregious offense against one of their protectors.
