On a day when the sun will barely peak above the horizon and Saturday morning cartoons become the soundtrack of many a household, the Texas Coalition for Animal Protection (TCAP) will be teaming up with the City of Lewisville to offer a low-cost pet vaccine clinic. Scheduled for October 5th, between the hours of 10 a.m. and noon, pet owners are invited to bring their furry friends to the Gene Carey Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, located at 995 E. Valley Ridge Boulevard, for a suite of affordable wellness services.
As per the City of Lewisville, this even looks to be an essential pit stop for pet parents looking to not only comply with state-required Rabies vaccinations but also to safeguard their pets against an array of other potential health threats. Dog owners can expect to have their companions tested for and vaccinated against diseases such as Bordetella, DAPPv, Leptospirosis, Lyme Disease, Influenza, and Heartworm. Likewise, cats are to be administered tests and vaccines for Rabies, FeLV, FHCPCh, and FIV. With pet health often coming at a premium, this partnership serves to extend a lifeline for those to proactively protect their pets without having to stretch their budgets too thinly.
Owners looking to obtain heartworm prevention for their dogs should note that TCAP requires a negative heartworm test before prescription, underscoring the importance of regular wellness check-ups. The officials of TCAP have stressed the need for safety and decorum; thus, they mandate that all dogs be leashed and all cats securely housed in hard-sided carriers to prevent any incidents among pets and owners alike.
