The Riverside County Sheriff's Department reported that its deputies responded to a call at approximately 5:27 a.m. and upon arrival at a residence on Valley Road, they encountered a grim scene. A male victim, later identified as 58-year-old Juan Sanchez, was found suffering from gunshot injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the official press release, the Riverside Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation into the homicide. As Sanchez's Coachella home became the center of a deepening investigation, the neighborhood, grappling with shock and grief, can see its streets lined with the silent testament of police tape and patrol cars.
No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting, and investigators are calling for the public's assistance.
