Columbus area drivers are receiving continued good news at the pump as gas prices see another week of decline. Further indicative of a statewide trend, Ohio's average gas price now sits at $3.05 per gallon, having similarly taken a notable dip from last week, as ABC6 reported. Prices in Columbus range from a low of $2.73 to a high of $3.39 per gallon, demonstrating a significant variance among different filling stations.
Moving northeast to Akron and Cleveland, GasBuddy data highlighted in a WKYC report confirms the downward trend is widespread. Akron's average is $3.05 per gallon, and Cleveland's is $3.09. Both cities witnessed declines over the last week and significantly lower prices compared to this time last year.
Nationwide, the average price is $3.22 per gallon after a 7.2-cent drop, with diesel prices also hitting new lows. Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, remarked, We fully expect gas prices will continue to drop as Americans drive less with the onset of fall. As for future projections, De Haan stated, "We expect the national average could fall below $3 per gallon as early as October for the first time since 2021," which was reiterated by multiple local outlets based on his analysis.
