The fatality of the victim, a 61-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. "It is with heavy hearts that we confirm that a contractor lost an employee today while doing work for DTE. DTE Energy was present on the scene along with an electric truck that seemed to have adjusted the wires using its bucket and boom.
The Macomb Daily provided additional context in their report, explaining that the incident took place as utility crews were installing new power lines to supply more electricity to the community when the fatal contact occurred, causing an explosion and a fire that required firefighters from various northern Macomb communities to respond; they were aided by an unmanned drone from Washington Township Fire to assess the situation from above.
