The City of Denton has officially named Jessica Robledo as its new Chief of Police after she occupied the role on an interim basis for the past five months. This appointment was solidified following a vote by the Council and will be complemented by an official swearing-in ceremony set for October 8, according to the City of Denton.
Robledo's ascension to the permanent position as Denton's police chief comes after an extensive review process, cementing the city leadership's trust in her capabilities. Having over three decades of law enforcement under her belt, she offers a wealth of experience to the Denton Police Department, including 16 years in executive and supervisory roles. As per the City of Denton, City Manager Sara Hensley lauded Robledo for her exemplary service. "As we continue our work in creating a safer community, Chief Robledo has the relationships and leadership to successfully lead our police force," said Hensley.
Before joining the Department as Interim Chief on April 16, 2024, Robledo had a distinguished career at the Austin Police Department where she retired as an Assistant Police Chief after 30 years of service. She then led the Pflugerville Police as Chief for four years. Her resume is further bolstered by leadership positions within professional associations and specialized training programs, including the FBI National Academy and the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police.
