In a brief statement released by the Denver Police Department, officials confirmed the arrest of Tyler Nelson, born on April 8, 1994, in connection to a recent fatal shooting incident. The shooting, which resulted in the death of an adult woman, took place in the 600 block of South Dayton Street.
According to the City and County of Denver, the incident was initially reported Tuesday morning when Nelson himself called 911 shortly after 1 a.m. to report a shooting at his home. Upon arrival, officers found a female victim with a gunshot wound, who was declared dead at the scene. Nelson was present at the location and promptly detained and taken for questioning. The Denver Police Department's investigation revealed that an argument had occurred between Nelson and the victim, who were cohabitants before the shooting unfolded.
Based on what the department described as "preliminary findings of the investigation," authorities arrested Nelson on suspicion of First-Degree Murder. While Nelson has been taken into custody, the definitive charges against him will be the responsibility of the Denver District Attorney’s Office to decide. The timing for the formal charge determination is yet to be announced.
The Office of the Medical Examiner will disseminate an official identification of the victim and details regarding her death at a later date. As this is still a developing story, more information is expected to emerge. The Denver Police has not provided further comments on the ongoing investigation at this time.
