This weekend, Milwaukee opens up its doors, quite literally, for the Doors Open Milwaukee event, happening today and tomorrow. It's your chance to get an insider's look at over 150 buildings that tell the story of the city's art, culture, and history. This year, the 6th Aldermanic District, represented by Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs, boasts an impressive lineup of nine local sites participating in the event, offering both open access and ticketed tours.

Among the featured destinations is America's Black Holocaust Museum, a cornerstone of the community dedicated to remembering the African American experience, as well as 414LORAL, a concept store combining floristry with modern retail. Encouraging locals and visitors alike to engage with these unique spaces, Alderwoman Coggs highlighted the importance of the event, saying "It’s a great opportunity to learn even more about our historic city and many of the special places that are a part of our urban landscape," according to an announcement made by the City of Milwaukee.

Explorers can choose from a variety of locales, including The Brick House, a hub for local gatherings, and the Bronzeville Center for the Arts, which fosters creative expression in the community. Dead Bird Brewing Co. and Gathering Place Brewing Company not only craft beer but also build local camaraderie. Other highlights include HoneyBee Sage Wellness & Apothecary Café, offering tranquility and healing teas; Sanger House Gardens, a hidden horticultural gem; ThriveOn King, an initiative investing in community well-being; and MFD Fire Station 21, which provides a glimpse into the lives of Milwaukee's bravest.

Doors Open Milwaukee provides a rare opportunity to sneak a peek into the city's prized locations that are normally not as accessible, tailored for those who are keen to explore and learn more about where they live, work, and play. Whether you're a history aficionado, architecture enthusiast, or simply in for a weekend of discovery, the 6th District's offerings are tailored for a deep dive into Milwaukee's rich and diverse heritage.
