The East Cleveland Police Department is scheduled to hold a press conference today at 3 p.m. to discuss updates concerning the string of shootings that occurred over the Labor Day weekend. These violent events marred what was intended to be a joyful gathering for Shaw High School alumni. According to New5 Cleveland, at least six individuals were injured across three separate incidents on September 2nd.

First responders initially reacted to a shooting at Euclid Avenue and Collmer Street around 1 a.m., where they found two victims. Following this, another incident was reported near Euclid and Shaw avenues, leading officers to three more injured at a nearby gas station. The violence continued with a shooting on Elwood Road around 2:30 a.m. In a statement obtained by WKYC, Acting Police Chief Ken Lundy will aim to provide details on the investigation, which, as of Tuesday, has yet to identify any suspects publicly.

Among the victims was 23-year-old Erin Strozier, who succumbed to her injuries in the week following the shootings. The community has been left seeking answers and justice for the senseless violence that ended the life of a young individual and left others wounded. "Interviews are still being conducted, video footage is still being obtained, and we're still working on identifying persons of interest," East Cleveland Detective Commander Joseph Marche told WKYC two days after the shootings.

Authorities continue to appeal to the public for information that might help to conclude their hunt for the individuals responsible swiftly. They've asked anyone knowledgeable about the shootings to contact the East Cleveland Detective Bureau at (216)681-2162 or Crime Stoppers at (216)252-7463. "[We are] still currently investigating this unfortunate incident," Marche stated to WKYC. The upcoming briefing will be live-streamed by local media, including FOX8, ensuring that community members get timely updates on these tragic events.
