A fatal collision in the North Las Vegas valley claimed the life of a 78-year-old woman, authorities confirmed. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning near the vicinity of Craig Ranch Regional Park.
At approximately 9 a.m., the North Las Vegas Police Department was called to a crash scene at the intersection of North Commerce Street and West Craig Road, 8 News NOW reported. The accident involved a gray SUV, and a white pickup truck. Upon arrival, officers discovered the elderly passenger in the SUV was struggling to remain conscious.
Medical responders transported the woman to a local hospital where she, was pronounced dead. In addition, the 58-year-old driver of the SUV suffered injuries that were described as non-life-threatening and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The pickup truck's 45-year-old driver self-transported to a facility after sustaining similar non-life-threatening injuries, as indicated by FOX5 Vegas.
Investigative reports suggest the SUV was headed west on West Craig Road and ran through a red light at the intersection, colliding into the pickup truck that was executing a left turn onto North Commerce Street, according to police. Neither impairment nor intoxication was considered a contributing factor in the crash. The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the details regarding the identity of the deceased alongside the cause and manner of death at a later date.
