
Elkridge residents should prepare for disruptions as Howard County rolls out its water main replacement along Red Barn Way, slated to kick off September 16th. According to Howard County's official news update, approximately 1,100 linear feet of pipe will be laid to rest and born anew, connecting Mayfield Avenue to the adjacent middle school.
Traffic flow will hit a snag during this essential yet inconvenient shuffle. Roads like northbound Red Barn Way, westbound Well Water Way, and eastbound Mayfield Avenue will partially shutter during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, and don't be startled if the clamor of weekend and nighttime work ruptures the usual silence from 10 p.m. Friday to the wee hour of 4 a.m. Monday, they said that the county, particularly during periods of system connection.
Public Works is working on road improvements and has put up caution signs and flaggers to guide drivers safely. Expect lane changes, slower speed limits, and active workers on the road. Drivers are reminded to stay alert and drive carefully through these areas for their safety and the safety of others.
