A student's alleged threat in Fairfield has prompted police and school district action. According to a press release from the Fairfield Police Department, a 12-year-old boy attending Golden West Middle School indicated he wanted to bring a firearm to school. The incident, rooted in a student dispute, occurred yesterday at around 5 pm when the boy divulged his intentions to a friend.
Acting urgently, Officer Moran, the school resource officer, rapidly identified the student despite only being equipped with the youth's first name. Collaborating with the Travis Unified School District, Moran traced the student back to his home in Vacaville, where his parents met and have since been involved with the investigation. A replica firearm was found during a search of the premises, but investigators are confident it was never present on the school campus.
Recognizing the juvenile nature of the suspect, law enforcement opted for a citation rather than immediate detention. "The child was cited and released to his parents," the Fairfield Police Department press release stated.
