Three individuals have been charged in an elaborate plot, initially targeting a mother in a custody battle, and ultimately spiraling into a scheme to assassinate a Williamson County judge. CBS Austin reports that the situation, described by authorities as "a family affair," led to the arrests of Clinton Harmon, along with his parents, Matt and Teresa Harmon.

Clinton Harmon, the mastermind of the attempted murder, has been arrested in New Orleans and is currently awaiting extradition back to Williamson County. It was during March 2024, that Harmon allegedly shot his ex-wife multiple times, an act defying the odds to avoid detection — plotting to drive carefully, to avoid toll roads or cameras, anything that would link him to the crime scene. But in a twist of fate unbeknownst to him, according to FOX 7 Austin, a GPS tracker placed on his SUV by a lienholder exposed his proximity to the location of the shooting.

The case first came to light when a call was made to 911 by the teenage son of the victim, reporting the shooting in Liberty Hill where his mother and her boyfriend were injured. The responding officers were informed by the mother that her ex-husband was the likely assailant. Sheriff Mike Gleason revealed that text messages underscored Harmon's discontent over financial grievances and the relationship of his ex-wife with her new partner, as reported by FOX 7 Austin.

Further investigations unveiled a collusion within the Harmon family to assassinate the mother and the presiding judge over their custody dispute. In a strategy session, the family discussed various methods to carry out the murder, including the use of fentanyl and hiring "thugs" to fulfill their vendetta. "'I'm just telling you, I'll do 10-20 to get that grandbaby," Matt Harmon was quoted saying, displaying a callous willingness to bend the rules of justice to his breaking point. Meanwhile, Teresa Harmon and Matt Harmon were each arrested with a bond of $1 million for their threats, as revealed by CBS Austin.
