Two members of a gang were shot in South Gate, resulting in one fatality and the other left in critical but stable condition, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported. The incident, which took place in the early hours of Saturday on the 8000 block of San Luis Avenue, drew a response from deputies at 2:03 a.m. following calls about a shooting, as per KTLA.
Upon arrival, the deputies discovered two Hispanic men with gunshot wounds to the torso, provided aid, and quickly arranged for their transport to a nearby hospital where one victim was pronounced dead and the other was listed in critical but stable condition, and both of the men were identified as gang members by deputies which adds a layer to the tragedy as it points towards gang violence, as reported by KTLA.
Investigations led by homicide detectives are ongoing and, at this stage, neither a suspect description nor a motive has been established.
