The peace of a Fort Mill night was shattered by gunfire following an attempted carjacking early Saturday morning. WBTV reports that two armed individuals attempted to seize control of a car at the intersection of Main Street and Tom Hall Street at around 3:50 a.m. Though no one was injured, the would-be carjackers are said to have fired multiple shots into the car as the driver managed to escape the harrowing situation.
Amidst their escape in a black sedan, the police are now searching for the two suspects. WSOCTV clarifies that the two suspects remain unidentified and at large. While fleeing the scene of the attempted theft, shots were fired into the victim's vehicle, marking an abrupt escalation from theft to potential violence.
Despite the gravity of the incident, which could have easily resulted in grievous harm, it is a relief to share that there were no reported injuries. The Fort Mill Police Department is currently engaging in a thorough investigation and is calling on the public to come forward with any potentially helpful information. Witnesses or those with knowledge pertaining to the identities or whereabouts of the suspects are urged to contact the authorities at (803)548-9337.
Details surrounding the event continue to unfold. According to a piece by QC News, the shooting occurred almost simultaneously as the victim was fleeing the scene of the attempted carjacking. Caught up in the violence of the moment, the black sedan, containing the suspects, was seen departing the intersection where the crime failed to take hold. The search for these individuals represents not only the pursuit of justice but also a necessary response to the blatant disregard for human life and safety displayed on the otherwise quiet streets of Fort Mill.
