The City of Henderson has launched its "Henderson Creates" art exhibit, featuring creative works by the city's employees, not just typical landscapes and portraits.
From a pool of submissions that rolled in after a city-wide call for art in July, the cream of the crop now adorns the first floor of City Hall, making it a must-visit for anyone with an eye for art or an interest in the hidden talents of public servants. Visual and Public Arts Supervisor Megan Heeres sang praises for the initiative, telling the City of Henderson, "We think it is of the upmost importance to include our employees in our broader visual and public art strategy, as well as serving as an opportunity for employees to share with one another and the public their creative pursuits and their lives outside of the workplace."
The "Henderson Creates" exhibit is open during City Hall's hours—Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.—until early November. If you missed the opening event, you can join a free tour on October 24 from noon to 1 p.m. to learn more about the artwork and the city employees who created it.
"Henderson Creates" provides a unique look at creative projects in municipal spaces. For more information, check the Galleries & Public Art page on the City of Henderson's website.
