The City of Henderson Police Department has wrapped up its latest pedestrian safety campaign, part of the 2024 Joining Forces Program, funded via federal dollars with a goal of reducing roadway injuries and fatalities in Nevada. From early through late August, officers initiated a total of 411 traffic stops in an enhanced enforcement bid to make the streets safer for those on foot, according to the City of Henderson.

From August 7 to August 31, the Henderson Police focused on monitoring driver behavior. They issued 219 speeding tickets, 11 for distracted driving (like using a cell phone), and 175 for other traffic violations. The goal was to reduce risky behaviors and keep both commuters and pedestrians safe, as per City of Henderson.

In an online statement published by the City of Henderson, the police department detailed their traffic enforcement endeavors and the outcomes thereof. The initiative was built on a sizable grant of $196,000 from the Nevada Department of Public Safety - Office of Traffic Safety, which funds the 2024 Joining Forces program and its various enforcement and education campaigns.

The year-long campaigns address various driving safety issues such as pedestrian safety, seatbelt use, speeding, distracted driving, and impaired driving. Funded by the Nevada Department of Public Safety - Office of Traffic Safety, these campaigns are crucial for their success.
