Houston attorney Tony Buzbee is currently spearheading a lawsuit against hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs, claiming to represent over 50 individuals who allege they were sexually assaulted by the rapper and his associates. The plaintiffs, including both men and women, reportedly include a large number of minors at the time the alleged incidents occurred, according to click2houston.
In a statement to the Houston Chronicle, Buzbee detailed, "This group of brave individuals include both men and women; many were minors when the abuse occurred. Some of these brave individuals reported the incidents to the police, others did not." Buzbee's firm is slated to hold a press conference next week to share further details publicly.
Diddy, whose legal name is Sean Combs, was arrested on September 16 following an indictment for sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges dating back to 2008. Combs has since pleaded not guilty and remains incarcerated, having been denied bail twice as he awaits a federal trial. According to the allegations, Combs leveraged his business empire to facilitate and cover up a pattern of abuse towards women for more than a decade.
The lawsuit claims that the acts took place in various settings such as hotels, private homes, and during the so-called Diddy "Freak Off" parties. In a post on Instagram, Buzbee expressed, “The violations against this group of individuals are mindboggling and can only be described as debauchery and depravity, exacted by powerful people against minors and the weak. I expect the group seeking redress will grow as this case progresses. I expect many other individuals will be implicated.” He has since encouraged any other alleged victims to come forward and join the lawsuit. A previous announcement by Buzbee suggested that he expects the number of plaintiffs to grow as the case develops and that next week, some of the plaintiffs might come forward with their stories, as per click2houston.
Combs' legal team has responded to a memoir allegedly written by his ex-wife Kim Porter, dismissing it as a "shameless attempt to profit from tragedy." Additionally, United States Attorney Damian Williams, on the day of Combs' arrest, urged other potential victims or individuals with knowledge of Combs’ alleged crimes to approach law enforcement, signaling that the investigation is continuing.
