The incident took place at 10680 Westbrae Parkway at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. The victim, a 90-year-old man whose name has not been released pending family notification, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot of an independent living community.

According to the City of Houston News report, the HPD Homicide Division, led by Sergeant B. Roberts and Detective J. Wallschlaeger, stated that the victim was in his vehicle when an unknown assailant assaulted him. The attacker then shot the elderly man, stole his belongings, and proceeded to flee in the victim's vehicle, striking him in the process. The stolen vehicle has since been located at an apartment complex on the 12500 block of Dunlap Street.

Responding to the initial report of an assault in progress, HPD patrol officers arrived on the scene to find the victim in severe distress. The Houston Fire Department paramedics were quick to transport the injured man to the area hospital. There, he was pronounced dead.

The only information on the suspect, who remains at large, is that he is described as a black male, believed to be 25 to 30 years of age.
