Residents of Howard County are preparing for a bridge transformation that aims to enhance connectivity and safety. The Department of Public Works (DPW) is gearing up to replace the time-worn Furnace Avenue bridge, a critical link over Deep Run that unites Howard with Anne Arundel County. A pivotal community outreach meeting is on the horizon, slated for October 2nd at the Anne Arundel County Public Library's Linthicum Library, kicking off at 6 p.m., as reported by Howard County's official release.

The new bridge design is 30% complete. It will replace old steel beams with new concrete, add new traffic barriers, and improve the approach roads. If all goes well, construction will start in fall 2027 and finish by the fall of the following year. The designers, Whitman Requardt and Associates, will detail the detours needed during the bridge's construction.
