
A 34-year-old female hiker has been rescued after sustaining a significant ankle injury on a remote stretch of the Graveyard Truck Trail in Tujunga, as reported by the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD). The incident required both ground and air emergency services after it occurred yesterday morning. The hiker was navigating an eastward section of the trail near Big Tujunga Canyon Road when the injury took place.
According to a press release from the LAFD, the department dispatched helicopters and a Flight Paramedic to assess and stabilize the injured woman. The aerial team executed a hoist maneuver to safely evacuate the hiker. The patient was then lifted, accompanied by the Flight Paramedic, into the helicopter, for continuous in-flight care while en route to a local hospital.
The LAFD alert detailed that multiple units, including E24, E274, E290, E298, T74, T98, along with helicopters H1, H2, and rescue ambulances RA74, RA874 participated in the operation. Battalion Chief 12 and a pair of air ambulances, HA1 and HA2, were also part of the response. The tactful deployment underlines the department's preparedness to tackle emergencies in even the most rugged locales.
