Yesterday afternoon, a quiet Orange County neighborhood was shaken when three burglars were interrupted by a homeowner near Small Grove and Ridge Valley, Irvine. The Irvine Police Department detailed on its Facebook page the chain of events that followed, leading to a high-speed pursuit and the arrest of three individuals suspected of the break-in and an association with South American theft groups.
After the resident reported the disturbance, police officers arrived and were able to swiftly gather details about the suspect's vehicle and its license plate. In a coordinated effort, described vividly on social media, the Orange County Sheriff's Department spotted the vehicle in Orange. When approached by allied law enforcement agencies in Garden Grove, the driver led them on a chase, the climax of which saw the vehicle halt in Cypress. Marco Ninovega, 31, obstinately remained in the car, while his accomplices fled on foot. The police, emboldened by their duty, captured Ninovega at the scene.
The search effort, which involved multiple agencies and K9 units, led to the arrest of William Zamora Silva, 23, and John Ibarra, 25, both hailing from Los Angeles. Surrounded by an established perimeter, and without any further escape routes, the officers took them into custody, levying charges of burglary, resisting arrest, and conspiracy against them. According to the Irvine Police Department's post, Ninovega faced additional charges for evasion alongside burglary and conspiracy.
Despite the concerted efforts of law enforcement, the remaining two suspects managed to elude capture, even after an exhaustive regional search. The Facebook announcement attributed success in its operation to the collaboration of multiple agencies, including OCSD, Santa Ana PD, Los Alamitos PD, Buena Park PD, CHP, Garden Grove PD, and Cypress PD. The skies, carefully monitored by both OCSD and Huntington Beach PD helicopters alongside CHP's, evidenced the high level of commitment to halting criminal activity in Irvine.
