Kissimmee has rolled out a new initiative aimed at sprucing up residential and commercial properties within its downtown redevelopment areas. The Residential Property Improvement Program (RPIP) is set to cater to single-family or duplex homeowners with a grant to defray costs associated with various exterior improvements. Announced by the City of Kissimmee, the RPIP offers a 50 percent matching, reimbursable grant of up to $5,000.
Eligible improvements for the RPIP include a range of exterior touches from painting and preparation, including pressure cleaning and fascia repair, to installing decorative landscaping elements and irrigation systems. Residents can also seek funds to repair or add porches or decks, new lighting fixtures, and driveway resurfacing. Notably, the initiative supports the removal of front yard chain link fences, among other property enhancements.
Meanwhile, the Commercial Property Improvement Program (CPIP) is the commercial counterpart to the RPIP. Targeting business properties within the Downtown Kissimmee CRA and Vine Street CRA, the CPIP extends a similar 50 percent matching grant but at an increased cap of $30,000, detailed in a recent statement by the DKCRA. The program covers façade and other commercial property improvements, and due to anticipated high demand, additional funding has been allocated for the 2025 fiscal year.
The RPIP and CPIP reflect the city's broader commitment to its historic neighborhoods and economic vitality. Proprietors and homeowners within the designated redevelopment areas are encouraged to apply. The City of Kissimmee's official website provides more information about these grants and the application process.
