Las Vegas is preparing for a week of intense heat as high-pressure moves in, pushing temperatures above normal. The National Weather Service reported that the city's last cool day was Saturday when the high reached 91 degrees. Now, residents and visitors can expect even hotter temperatures in the coming days.
The skies will stay clear, and light breezes will continue as usual. However, temperatures are expected to rise steadily through at least the middle of next week, leading to a hot forecast for the area. For travelers at Harry Reid Airport, conditions look good, with the National Weather Service stating, “VFR conditions will prevail with no significant cloud cover expected,” and winds staying under 8 knots.
From Wednesday to Sunday, the heatwave will continue, with high pressure keeping temperatures well above normal. However, a low-pressure system moving towards the coast may provide some relief by the end of the weekend.
And while Sin City feels the stirrings of a desert furnace, the National Weather Service tosses up a 25% chance for thermometers to crack the 100-degree mark midweek and maintain a "Moderate (Level 2) HeatRisk" for Death Valley and the Colorado River Valley beyond it. Aviation conditions across southern Nevada, northwest Arizona, and southeast California remain unanimously unanimous, with “light winds of less than 8 knots following the typical diurnal directional trends will continue today into Monday” ensuring smooth air travel without any disruptions.
