A woman has been arrested by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police after an incident at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, where a man alleges he was drugged and robbed of valuables totaling more than $130,000. The suspect, identified as Chaunique Prentiss, 34, is accused of taking several high-end watches, cash, and an iPad, as well as the victim's passport and driver’s license, as reported by News 3 LV.
According to the arrest report and documents obtained by 8 News Now, after meeting the unnamed man at the Bleau Bar and going to his room early on the morning of August 30, Prentiss was later seen on surveillance footage exiting the man's hotel room and leaving the property with the stolen items, the incident could involve the drugging of the victim, whose urine test results are pending to confirm this theory.
Prentiss was apprehended near her residence on September 6 by law enforcement, where she indicated to officers that the stolen property was at her home, where authorities subsequently discovered the items including multiple watches from luxury brands and the aforementioned electronics, cash, and documents, in a statement to the police, Prentiss mentioned "the 'guy' was supposed to 'take care of her' but he was sleeping and she couldn't wake him up," and admitting to the mistake, she claimed she had never before engaged in such actions, as reported by 8 News Now.
Setting her bail at $10,000, Las Vegas Justice Court Judge Daniel Westmeyer has ordered Prentiss to abstain from visiting the Las Vegas Strip, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for December 16, while this case unfolds, another seemingly unrelated incident reported by 8 News Now involves a woman accused of stealing nearly $40,000 from a man under circumstances that echo the methodology employed in the alleged crime involving Prentiss.
