
A Los Angeles man faces the possibility of life imprisonment after being charged with a series of violent and abusive crimes against women, according to KTLA. The individual identified as Terrance Hawkins, 42, was indicted by the Los Angeles County Criminal Grand Jury on 26 counts, including charges of forcible rape, intimate partner violence, and stalking.
Hawkins, who was arrested in April 2023 and has since been held without bail, is accused of using dating apps and social media to meet many of his victims, the Los Angeles Police Department officials stated his indictment was unsealed on September 23. During the court proceedings at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center he pleaded not guilty to all counts being due back in court on October 21. The disturbing pattern as described by the authorities spans from 2014 through 2023 involves Hawkins allegedly dating, physically and sexually abusing women across the county, additionally he also faces animal cruelty and gun violation charges.
The severity of these allegations has prompted the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office to issue a statement highlighting the courage of the women who came forward, with District Attorney George Gascón, saying, "This is a truly egregious case and I want to acknowledge and commend the bravery of the women who have come forward to share their painful experiences," as reported by the DA's office. The DA's office reaffirmed its commitment to supporting survivors and pursuing justice against perpetrators.
