A high-speed pursuit of a stolen vehicle ended disastrously last week, leading to a tragic fatality and multiple damaged vehicles. Elliot Dugan, 51, a resident of Los Angeles, was identified as the deceased by the Los Angeles Police Department following a vehicle chase that culminated in a violent crash.

Details outlined by the LAPD indicate that on April 6, officers from the West Valley Division noticed Dugan seemingly asleep at the wheel of a gray 2019 Lamborghini Huracan, and upon attempting a traffic stop, discovered he had multiple felony warrants and was driving a vehicle reported as stolen, according to an official statement by the department. After Dugan fled the scene, refusing to surrender to the officers, a brief high-speed chase ensued.

Unfortunately, the pursuit ended when Dugan lost control of the Lamborghini, striking the median and trees along Sherman Way, causing the vehicle to split and Dugan to be ejected onto a sidewalk. Responding paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene. The LAPD’s Multi-Disciplinary Collision Investigation Team (MCIT) is now handling the crash investigation.

Collateral damage from the crash impacted several parked vehicles along Sherman Way, though, no bystanders were reported injured. The LAPD is calling for witnesses or anyone with additional information to come forward, to assist in the ongoing investigation.
