Joseph Castorena has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for a horrific quadruple homicide that occurred in Aurora in 2022. According to Denver7, Castorena remained silent during the sentencing last Tuesday, decided by Arapahoe County District Judge David Karpel.
The fatal incident shook the community when Castorena murdered three relatives of his ex-girlfriend and a man residing in an RV outside the home. As reported by CBS News, it was revealed that just six days before the killings, two of the victims had filed restraining orders against the perpetrator.
Details emerged that Castorena broke into his ex-girlfriend's home and awaited the family with a gun. The unfortunate victims identified were Kenneth Eugene Green Luque, 21, Rudolfo Salgado Perez, 59, Jesus Serrano, 51, and Maria Anita Serrano, 22. Castorena's ex-girlfriend and her two children survived the attack unharmed.
The aftermath of the crime led to the arrest of Castorena's brother and cousin. Standing accused of aiding the murderer after the fact, one was handed down a sentence, which, due to a misplaced modifier, having already served 340 days in prison, served as the time they had awaited court. As KDVR reports, they revealed that the accomplices pleaded guilty, with one receiving three years probation and 75 hours of community service, while the other's sentence equaled time already served. These convictions added a sobering coda to a narrative of loss, justice, and the irrevocable impact of violence.
