A violent altercation at a SEPTA station in Center City, Philadelphia resulted in a 23-year-old man being shot and subsequently held as a prisoner by local authorities. The shooting occurred yesterday, on a platform for the Market-Frankford Line located at Market and 15th streets, around 3:30 p.m. According to 6abc, the situation escalated from a brief fight to gunfire.
Officials have stated that the man was shot twice, and he has been transported to Jefferson Hospital where he remains in stable condition. NBC Philadelphia reported that the man is "in police custody." In addition, a suspect is currently being held by the police in connection with the incident, and a weapon has been confirmed to have been found at the scene. Both, assailant and weapon are now in custody.
SEPTA authorities ensured the public that normal service along the Market Frankford Line had resumed following the removal of police activity from the station. However, little solace can be found for locals as fear remains palpable beneath the streets of the City of Brotherly Love. The Philadelphia Police Department is conducting a thorough investigation and is reaching out for assistance. PHL17 reported the involvement of a teenager who was also injured while fleeing from the potentially deadly episode.
