Mayor Karen Bass, in her continuing campaign against homelessness in Los Angeles, has carried out another Inside Safe operation, this time near 7th St and Serrano Ave, in Koreatown. This initiative is part of the mayor's commitment since day one in office when she declared a state of emergency on the homelessness crisis. According to a statement by Mayor Bass, with ongoing efforts aligned with council members and service providers, more than 3,000 Angelenos have been moved from the streets into housing through Inside Safe. The burgeoning initiative uses multi-agency coordination to address one of the city's most pressing issues.

Councilwoman Heather Hutt also weighed in, declaring her office's dedicated collaboration in the mission to combat homelessness in her district and beyond. "Our office is committed to housing our unhoused neighbors and making our community a safer place to live. Thanks to today's Inside Safe operation, we were able to do just that, and get more people off the street. I applaud Mayor Bass’ tireless efforts to defeat our City’s homelessness crisis, and look forward to continuing our efforts to find efficient housing and resources for the people of Council District 10 and across Los Angeles," said Hutt, who detailed their office's accomplishments to the dismay of the encampment weather that had plagued the area, in a press release.

The recent efforts seem to bear fruit, as the latest data from the 2024 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count indicates. One of the significant findings is a 10% decrease in street homelessness within the City of Los Angeles, marking the area's first double-digit decline in at least nine years. Furthermore, there has been a 38% reduction in makeshift shelters across the city. Mayor Bass has been a vocal critic of the erstwhile inefficiencies in homelessness programs and has put concerted efforts toward optimizing the services provided to those transitioning from the streets into permanent housing.

Encouragement also comes from quantifiable achievements in housing, seeing as the number of people moving into permanent homes has hit record highs. The clear-up operation introduced by Mayor Bass and echoed by Hutt found that tent encampments have decreased in every council district. Simultaneously, the specter of homelessness continues to loom, the city's joint tactics have brought hope to thousands more Angelenos, as reported in what was detailed from an array of strategic countermeasures against an ever-tenuous housing landscape, shared in a news release from the mayor's office.
