Watertown Plank Road, the event, which takes place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., is part of the National Diaper Need Awareness Week, seeking to alleviate one element of financial stress for caregivers.
According to FOX6, MCW is aiming to collect 17,500 diaper products and especially needs sizes 4,5,6, along with baby wipes. They are also accepting monetary donations, which the college has committed to match, doubling the potential impact for local families in need.
Megan Johnson, founder of the Milwaukee Diaper Mission, emphasized the dire need for these supplies. In an interview obtained by TMJ4, she stated, "We hear from families that... this is something that they desperately need. So many families are struggling." The organization distributes roughly 100,000 diapers monthly to benefit caregivers and babies relying on this foundational support.
As a call to action, the Milwaukee Diaper Mission urges the community to participate in their cause. The organization posted on Facebook, inviting individuals who are unable to attend the drive to instead make a donation online or find a local drop spot through their website. An collective effort is essential in helping to ensure that the diaper drive reaches it's goal and assists as many families as possible.
