The Mesquite community is gearing up for a celebration of Hispanic culture with the 8th annual Día de los Muertos Celebration. The event, which offers a blend of artistic workshops, performances, and food offerings, is scheduled for October 26 and hosted by the Mesquite Arts Council. Festivities will unfold from 3-6 p.m., both inside and on the grounds of the Mesquite Arts Center, according to the City of Mesquite.

A variety of cultural arts workshops are on the slate, catering to an array of interests and skill levels. Participants can try their hand at silk screening with Durty Laundry Clothing, Día de los Muertos crown-making with Poppy Xander, or decorating authentic sugar skulls with Maggie Wolters. Attendees have also the chance to engage in hat making with Rad Hatter, Latin crafts with Hispanic Forum of Mesquite, painting workshops with Cara Mia Theatre, and creating organic abstracts alongside artist Patricia Rodriguez.

The celebration will not be without its share of live entertainment. Musical performances are expected from Latin Lara and DJ Storm, along with Grupo Folklorico Mexico Lindo and A Dance to Remember studio, which will deliver spirited dance routines. The event will also feature performances by Cara Mia Theatre and their mojigangas, a form of traditional towering puppets.

In addition to the workshops, and performances, the festival features a “Hecho con Amor” market, where patrons can browse through goods from over a dozen vendors. Food enthusiasts can savor the variety of flavors presented by food trucks and concession stands, available for purchase throughout the celebration. Visitors can learn more about what's in store for them at the Día de los Muertos Celebration by visiting the Mesquite Arts Center's official website, detailed in a post made on September 23rd by the city of Mesquite at www.mesquiteartscenter.org.
