Milwaukee residents should prepare for a mix of sunny skies and possible thunderstorms according to the latest forecast. The National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan says that today will be sunny, with a high near 85 degrees. Light winds will eventually become southeast at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. However, come this evening, there's a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly materializing after 10 pm. Conditions will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 64 degrees, and southeast winds shifting to southwest after midnight.
Heading into the weekend, Sunday promises showers and possibly a thunderstorm that could hit highs near 72 degrees. The chance of precipitation is 80%, with new rainfall potentially reaching between a quarter and half an inch. For beachgoers, it's wise to carefully consider any plans as dangerous swimming conditions are set to develop Sunday night and could continue into Monday. A subsequent decline in temperature to a low around 55 degrees is expected Sunday night, with a 60% chance of precipitation.
Looking ahead to the rest of the week, apart from a slight chance of showers Monday night and Tuesday, there appears to be a gradual return to calm, with partly sunny skies and high temperatures in the upper 60s to mid-70s. The National Weather Service anticipates partly cloudy nights with lows in the mid-50s throughout the first half of the week, with the weather likely to improve by Wednesday, promising mostly sunny conditions.
The National Weather Service hazardous weather outlook also mentioned a risk of gusty winds west of I-39 this evening, though "spotter activation will likely not be needed." As Wisconsinites adjust their weekend plans, they should remain vigilant to the rapidly changing weather conditions, particularly concerning thunderstorm chances and swimming advisories along Lake Michigan's shorelines.
